Utah Pony of the Americas Club
All-Around

The POA breed is unlike any other because of our emphasis on the all-around. Instead of focusing on one discipline, POA's are versatile horses that can compete in any class. Whether it is halter, english, western, or games you will see the same horses in each class.
Dispostion

POA's are breed to be a horse for youth. They are usually well-mannered and easy to handle. We take great pride in providing a club within a breed that focuses on building equine skills, while strengthening family relations.
Size

Many of our "ponies" might look like a regular sized horse, not only in size but also in gait, proportion, and ability. The maximum height is 56" from the wither, which is about 14 hands.
Color

The main characteristics of a POA include mottled skin, white sclera, striped hooves, and a wide variety of spots. Spots may vary in size from tiny specks to spots four or more inches in diameter. Others have over the hip blankets or some are snow-capped. Roans, leopards, bays, sorrels, and any color from the color-wheel will be seen at any given show.
POAs are for everyone

POAs are small horses that are bred for their color, disposition, size, and versatility. They are small enough to not scare away children but most of them are hardy enough to carry around adults as well. These gentle equines can give a boy or girl confidence and responsibility which will serve in later life. The POA motto is “Try hard, win humbly, lose gracefully and, if you must … protest with dignity.” This perhaps more than anything else, sets POA exhibitors apart from others in the world of horse show competition.
Boys and girls cheer for each other even though they are competing against each other. Deep friendships are made that last entire lifetimes for both parents and children from coast to coast. POAs are perfect for trail and endurance riding, ranch work and hunting. The gentle disposition, durability and intelligence of the breed serves it well.
