Q: How am I suppose to know all the rules?

Q: Do you have to wear a helmet during games?
A: Yes. It doesn't matter your age, every rider must wear a helmet during games (and jumping).
Q: Why do they give you two numbers?
A: When issued two numbers, you should wear them on each side of your saddle blanket. This makes it a million times easier for the judge and staff to see your number.
Q: Can I ride in both 9 & Under walk/trot and 9 & Under 3 gait?
A: No. At one show you may only pick one of the above classes to show in. The walk/trot class is for those not ready for 3 gait. You can move up to the 3 gait class during the same year or move down to the walk/trot without effecting your points.
Q: Can I show in my age group and the 18 & Under classes?
A: No. We would like the 18 & Under classes to be reserved for those riders or horses not yet ready for 3 gait classes and want to give them the opportunity to compete against others with similar skill levels.
Q: Do I need to be a club member to show?
A: No. You do not need to be a club member to show, but you will not qualify for any high point awards.
Q: Can I wear a t-shirt during games?
A: No. You must wear a collared shirt during games.
Q: Do I have to wear a cowboy hat during western classes?
A: Yes. All classes require a hat, including halter.
Q: How is the Utah POA Club set up?
A: The Club is a non-profit that is ran by volunteer board members. The Utah Board gets to make local decisions but we are bound by national rules.
Q: Do I have to have a POA to show?
A: No. All our state shows are open to any breed of horse.
Q: What does POA stand for?
A: Ponies of the Americas.
Q: How many shows do I need to show in to qualify for high point?
A: Three. We offer four pointed shows a year and to qualify to high point, you must show in at least three shows.
Q: What do you get for high point?
A: Awesome awards! Our awards committee works tirelessly every year to find great awards for high points. They can include bridles, headstalls, travel gear, embroidered jackets, saddles pads, belt buckles and more!
Q: Why should I come to the Year End Awards, even if I didn't get high point?
A: The Year End Awards is a great night to see other members of the club, eat good food, watch a slideshow from the past year, and everyone participate gets a award!
